SELECTServer’s usage logs have not been transmitted in the timeframe required.

SELECTServer’s usage logs have not been transmitted in the timeframe required. All client applications license request will fail until the usage logs have been transmitted. There are 0 log entries to be sent. Logs were last transmitted on 10/15/2012

The Response File corresponding to the following logs is not processed. Please Process it. If you do not have the response file, download the corresponding logs and then send them to Bentley to get the response file


Reported issue for Structural Enterprise license and SELECTserver version 08.11.07.111 and earlier

Please note: the following issue only pertains to accounts that deploy SELECTserver locally and utilize version 08.11.07.111 and earlier.

Yesterday afternoon an issue was identified relating to a license update that was pushed over the weekend. Currently, products that require a Structural Enterprise license are unable to acquire a license. Upgrading to SELECTserver version 09.00.00.113 will resolve this issue immediately.

In the meantime, Bentley is working to correct the issue and notification will be provided once resolution is confirmed.

If you require immediate access to the products licensed via Structural Enterprise and are unable to upgrade your SELECTserver, please contact Technical Support for workaround options available.

Specified connection invalid when installing SelectServer and connecting to the database.

User has just installed SS 09.00.00.113 on a 64bit OS Windows 2008 SP 1.  Getting an error when she tries to configure the database. The specified connection is invalid. She let it create a new database when she installed SS.

User requested Registry information to repoint user to a new SELECTserver deployment

User’s question: I need to migrate many users to a new SELECTserver.  Is there a registry setting that I can change
remotely to repoint a user to a new SELECTserver?

Can access to the SELECTserver Administration Site be restricted?

A user running a deployed SELECTserver 08.11.07.111 and planning on upgrading to SELECTserver 09.00.00.113 soon would like to know if there is a way to restrict access to the SELECTserver Administration Site so that it can only be accessed from the server. He has had users connect remotemly and modify settings and services and would like to assure this does not happen in the future.

Impossible to change license server configured on user machine

we used to have a local server for our licensing and now it has changed

to selectserver.bentley.com. one of the machines in aberdeen will not let me
change the server and when i try to open the license

tool options, i get a message stating

the following options have been set by your selectserver administrator .
users may not c

hange them.
selectserver:
-server name
-site activation key".

i am an administrator and need to remove this lock so the u

ser can continue to work. please advise how to remove the lock.

Select deployed server log files

Good morning all,

 

Can you please advise as to what information is contained in the log files specifically relating to the select deployed server.

We have two clients that need to send the log files through due to them having a select deployed server(local on their domain)

 

Extract of mail is below.

 

After the installation of the Bentley Select software for
local deployment for our licensing model here at Armscor, I have a few concerns
regarding the monthly logs that needs to be sent to Bentley for re-activation
of the licenses. Please can you provide me answers to the following:

 


  1. Does the submitted log file contain any
    usernames, computer names or IP addresses?

  2. What other sensitive data does the log file
    contain?

 

We are in a very secure environment which prohibits us from
e-mailing/sharing this type of information with companies or persons that has
not been security cleared by us, thus the concern.

 

 

User cannot change the Server name in the License Management Tool.

User had a Local SelectServer. He had it set to not allow users to change the Server Name in the License Management Tool. The Local SelectServer crashed. The user then requested to be moved to Online SelectServer. He was moved and is now setup on the Online SelectServer.

The user uninstalled WaterCAD and reinstalled it. He ran through the activation wizard and was able to validate the site activation key to the Online SelectServer.

When the users then attempts to "Send Logs Now" it still attempts to send them to his Local SelectServer. The License Management Tool still will not allow him to change the Server name to point to the Online SelectServer.

How can this be changed?


SQL file too big

User reports:  the bentley_log.ldf on sql is approximately 32 GB. The bentley.mdf file is only 500mb. 
What are my options for reducing the file size?

Can't activate product

I have downloaded Maxsurf 20 V8i from StudentServer, and am trying to activate it with the Site Activation Key that was displayed on the Download Queue Summary,  but every time I try in the Activation Wizard, I just get an error message (a very uninformative one):

"An error has occurred while attempting to verify the server and activation key."

This is for Maxsurf 64 bit, 20.00.00.49, on my Acer laptop at home running Windows 7 Home Premium with SP1 (I am a student whose university uses Maxsurf, and has a vendor key (terminology?) that lets me join StudentServer..

I run the activation wizard, for installation type I choose "SELECT subscriber activating against a hosted (Bentley) SELECT server."

I click next, the server name is "selectserver.bentley.com", and for Site Activation Key I enter the key from the Download Queue Summary.

As soon as I click next again I get a little window with the above error message.

Am I doing something wrong?  How can I activate Maxsurf?

Is a new License file needed when SelectServer is updated?

We are currently using SelectServer XM. Apparently, the newer versions offer much better reports, so I would like to upgrade my SelectServer to the current version.

  1. Will it still recognize the existing license?
  2. Is there a quick guide on what steps I need to follow to upgrade the SelectServer?

Our XM select server is on a domain controller.

  1. Can we upgrade on this server?
  2. If not, can we upgrade on another server, but continue to use the database on the current server?

ProjectWise Explorer usages not reported

select server > passport reports > "daily client usage" does not log

 "projectwise explorer client" usage for external company users who are logging into the sydney tains projectwise system. it only

logs their "projectwise server web client" usage.

Can't locate "Request update" button on SELECT server

I have an email from registration@bentley.com.  It provides instructions on how to force a SELECT server update.  I’m assuming that is what I need to do.  I can’t seem to locate the [request now] button to connect to the hosted server. Can you provide some guidance please or direct me to someone else who can?  Thank you.

License count and multiple installation against Online SELECT server

This is both a license and an install question.  We bought FlowMaster and CulvertMaster. I thought we bought a program to be installed on the server, but it appears that is not the case. I need to know if we need to install the programs on the computer where it will be used, and I need to know if our license allows for multiple installs.


Select Server (Local) & SSL certificate

We host our own local
Select Sever. After updating our domain IIS certificate from a self-signed to a
SSL signed certificate by a CA…our Product Activation Wizard started giving us
the error:

"An error has occurred while attempting
to verify the server and activation key.
"

Having the “Use HTTPS (SSL) unchecked had
no effect.

 

The only way we found we could fix this
error and have our activation key accepted again, was to turn off the use of
SSL on the server for the \[server]\BSS web site.

 

It’s my understanding that I cannot assign
my internal SS server to the SSL certificate. Therefore is my only other option
to put the SS on a publicly-trusted server?

ERROR - DataUpdateService - Could not retrieve Product IDs [Unable to connect to the remote server]
ERROR - DataUpdateService - Service Process Returned Error Code#-10026 -  Could not update the product information.

Our specific use of Bentley products

We are a small company. We own 1 license of the following products: WaterCAD, Flowmaster, Descartes, StormCAD, SewerCAD, Map, CivilStorm. There are only 4 of us in the office that use these products, and they are rarely used. In response to the 4 ways "How to Reduce Usage": 1) All 4 of us need the software on our machines. 2) The products listed above are not interchangeable.  3) We close the programs after we are done using them 4) We are aware that we only have 1 license for each of the above programs, and that going over the 1 license results in an overage.

The "Trust Licensing" policy has really been a problem for us. Since the SelectServer is unable to tell us if a license has been used or not, we never know if we will be opening a second instance of the program. We are not blocked or warned before opening the second instance. In order to avoid overages, every time we want to open one of the programs, we email all of the users in the office and ask them if we can reserve the program for a specified hour. It's a hindrance to our productivity.

We want the ability to only use only the licenses that we have purchased. When I open a dgn that is already in use, I am not able to work in that dgn. When that happens, we wait for the coworker to finish in the dgn. If I open our networked licensed AutoTurn, and the license is already used, I am not able to use the program. When that happens we wait for the license to free up. When I open a second instance of WaterCAD, I see no warning, then I get a phone call from our account manager telling me we need to purchase a second license. The result: The "Trust Licensing" policy will eventually force us to purchase software that we do not need.

How we can generate a usage report..?

As the subject says how can I tell if we, as a company, as using Trust Licensing'?

As far as I know we are not, but if we are we haven't been told about this.
