I have a question from one of our clients who is using the Bentley software under Deployed license on their company's local server.
How many days can an end user can use the product if the local server is down ?
Please help. Thanks in advance.
Hi. I have a structural enterprise license and just a single computer using this. Today my computer crashed and i had to reformat the system. For reinstallment of the enterprise programs, is it just a simple re-install and then performing the activation wizard again? Or must i do something to make the select server aware that it's the same computer? It's re-configuring the license that really worries me.
Thanks in advance....
While opening the Staad ,it asks for product activation. I am used to activate the product daily,But product activation wizard menu shows that your product expires in number of days that is in decreasing order. Then how can i activate my licence with bentley.
I tried to activate AECOsim Building Designer, but instead I activated Microstation.
Considering we have AECOsim Building Designer, will this lead to overusage on Microstation?
Does this in License management tool mean there are 4 AECOsim licenses available to be used?
Does this mean there are 3 licenses available to be used?
Please, if you can provide an answer to this, it would be awesome!
With lots of people and I assume companies bring unhappy with the present licence model is this likely to be re-evaluated and possible changed further down the line?
A possible change would be to set up online licences so that when a program is started it first checks with Bentley's servers to see if there is a licence available. If there is then the program starts, if not it doesn't. This works very well with other software vendors programs (eg The NBS) and would solve a lot of the ongoing issues and bad feeling that there is at the moment.
Any thoughts Bentley/anyone?
Our company currently has 2 structural enterprise licenses shared between our structural engineers. Can someone please explain how this works when using RAM Structural System? With the Bentley "calendar hour" licenses, it's a little confusing.
For instance - using RAM SS over an hour, I often will go into the Modeler for a little while to make some geometrical or loading changes, then go into Steel Beam to rerun the beam design, go into Steel Column to rerun the column design, and check the Frame for the updates, and the Foundation for the updates. Does this mean I've used 5 licenses within one hour (Modeler, Beam, Column, Frame, and Foundation)? I'm hoping to manage my usage so we don't deal with the license overage charges due to "calendar hour" usage (even though I'm only using one license at a time). I can't find anything definitive anywhere explaining how the RAM SS licensing works with regard to the calendar hour licensing. I think this program is unique in that some of the different modules are licensed independently, and I'm not sure Bentley has other software that behaves this way with regard to licensing. It is the natural usage of the program to "step through" the different modules and backtrack to Modeler to make basic changes.
From what I've read and through my original correspondence with the Bentley salesperson, I don't think the Modeler uses a license, I think Steel Beam and Column use the same license under the "RAM Steel" category (so going between the two modules shouldn't activate a "new license"), Frame uses a separate license, and Foundation uses a separate license. So with the hourly usage example from before, I think I would have used 3 licenses (Beam/Column, Frame, and Foundation). Can someone please confirm this? If this is true, then if I go between Modeler, Beam, Column, and Frame within one calendar hour, then move into Foundation in the next calendar hour, then I don't think I would have gone beyond our allotted 2 license usage. Is that correct?
Thanks so much,
Kari
The email about the release of CONNECT that I got yesterday states:
Hi,
I just got an overage email. I installed the new Microstation and got these listing in the overage notification:
| CONNECTION client | 9/1/2015 | 1 | 0 | 1 |
| CONNECTION client | 9/2/2015 | 1 | 0 | 1 |
How do I prevent this from happening? I don't want a "Connection client"--I just want Microstation. Also, I don't want to be billed for this.

This is in regards to the Problem with our License of the STAAD Pro. V8i,
As we are a Non-Select license user since last 2 years, Since the period of time we haven’t face any problem nether on application part nor the licensing
but since last 2-3 weeks we are having a problem with the license of Staad Pro., i.e. users are unable to Check-in & Check-out the license from the Bentley licensing server (productactivation.bentley.com) we have total 8 no. of licenses,
Few weeks back we were able to login to the Portal of productactivation.bentley.com to manage licensing, but now its inaccessible, as it says
You must be a SELECT Site Administrator in order to login to the hosted SELECTserver
Kindly Help we are unable to use our existing 8 licenses of Staad Pro.

Tirthraj Sharma
I have one license that I use on multiple computers. When I tried to use the Microstation in my desktop switching from the lop top. I got a message stating I can not access it because I only have one license. It is my understanding that I can use one license on multiple computers so long as one user is using it at a time.
How do I resolve this problem? I know for a fact that there is no one using the license at this time.
Thanks.
We migrated a copy of our database to a newer server. When we try to connect, we get the error: "Cannot write to the registry key." We weren't sure if the error was on the application or the database server, so I tried connecting with a domain service account with admin privileges to the application server and the same error popped up. Our database admin is willing to give the account privileges to write to the registry of the database server, but before we put the changes into production, he wants to understand what the registry changes are.
.... how many licences will show on SELECT server. I assume that answer is one but could o with confirmation.
Hello
We are using in our company the licensetoolcmd /configure to setup global activation for all computer across network. This in most cases work great, but has some disadvantages.
We want to test a new application. Even if activation for this application is done by hand it will still, at some point use the data form licensetoolcmd and will try to activate itself against our selectserver creating an overage.
Is there a way to overcome this?
I have a few ideas, but need more information.
1. Disable the batch for some time, and activate the test period on the workstation manually - but this requires to clear the information setup by licensetoolcmd - where are those stored. Even if i disable the script now, the information is there, and the application know where to get it.
2. Activate each application separately by /productid switch. But where do i get the productID for Bentley applications? Still this will require to clear all configuration setup by licensetoolcmd.
I had enough licenses on hand to handle my workload. Turned one in because we would not need it anymore. It expired on Sept 19, 2015. Why would I get an overage for Sept 9 for a license that was valid until Sept 19? Or get an overage for July 28? When I get the QTL statement it does not show the licenses I had in affect until Sept 19, 2015. Can't even get support to get back to me on this one! Can't call them on the phone and get a real answer...
Hallo,
I received a bill for Bentley Schedule Simulation. What is this, it seems it was log uses when I run MicroStation. I'm guessing it was EAP5 and the timing match. Any info would be appreciated as my Account Managers says I'm getting billed because I used it.
Thanks
Has anyone else received an invoice from Bentley regarding the use if their Schedule Simulation software, and have no recollection of ever using it.
It looks like it came with CONNECT, and the usage was from one of the earlier EAP versions. 08.21.05.36 to be precise.
I recall this problem came up early in the EAP process, with people using it without realizing it and that they needed a separate license to use it, and Bentley not telling people about the license situation until after the fact.
